San Jose, CA - July 1, 1997 -- EtherCom Corporation, an innovative developer of Ethernet connectivity products, today commenced accepting orders for its new Fast Ethernet Media Converter.
The new EFM12 media converter is an exceptionally small, stand alone unit, designed to allow 100BaseTX specifications to be used over fiber optic cable. The EFM12 meets the needs of today's network planners to marry Fast Ethernet performance with the benefits of fiber segments. The EFM12 conforms to all requirements of the IEEE 802.3 physical layer specification.
Available in the standard multimode configuration, or the optional single mode (EFM12SM), fiber segments can be up to 2 Km and 15 Km respectively. Each model has five easy to read LED indicators, one for unit power and two for each port displaying link and receive. The 100BaseTX port has a fully shielded RJ45 connector, the 100BaseFX port offers a choice of SC or ST Fiber Connectors. A 110 or 230 volt, AC wall-mount power supply is included with each unit.
"This new Fast Ethernet Media Converter builds on EtherCom's established expertise in the network market," said Gene Popov EtherCom's senior test engineer. "We test all our products exhaustively, the EFM12 is reliable and error-free even when test segments exceed the 2 Km and 15 Km lengths."
The suggested list price for the EFM12 is $745.00. EtherCom offers very aggressive discounts to qualified Resellers and VARs. Orders will start shipping during the fist ten days of July.
