The six or twelve ports can be configured with any combination of the six modules. At 100 Mbps there is TX, T4 and FX. At 10 Mbps there is a shielded UTP or an AUI. Allows plug & play installation at locations with diverse wiring requirements.

Can be user configured to full duplex (any port) from switch to switch or switch to workstation and/or server (requires NICs that support full duplex). This allows doubling of network segment lengths and extends the networks diameter across the largest of campuses. Fiber segments can be up to two kilometers in length.

Upgrade from 10 to 100 one department at a time for superior control.

True scalability can be implemented by use of 100 Mbps & 10 Mbps modules

High speed forwarding and filtering with low latency and automatic learning and aging.

Supports the IEEE 802.3 standard for 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) operation.

Available in single mode fiber.

LEDs for each port to indicate traffic load, forwarding and Frame Check Sequence (FCS) errors.

Product Description

Designed for ultimate flexibility, the EFS6000 is unlike products from most of our competitors. It sports a modular chassis capable of holding six Media Dependent Adapters (MDAs). The bare chassis can be factory configured with any combination of MDAs, 100BaseTX (Auto 10/100), 100BaseT4, 100BaseFX, 10BaseT and AUI. The EXC6000 expansion chassis can be stacked with the low latency, store and forward EFS6000 switch, to increase the number of ports to 12.

Application Information

Switching can be mission-critical to the world of Fast Ethernet. When installing a Fast Ethernet Network, it very often becomes necessary to incorporate switches to separate your collision domains, extend your network diameter across an entire campus and successfully integrate 10 Mbps legacy connectivity. Switched networks give you more bandwidth, less congested segments, more control over your network and better management. Until EtherCom introduced the EFS6000, switching in mixed media networks tended to be a cost-prohibitive undertaking.
